The Giles family stayed with us while they were in Utah for Thanksgiving. Brooklyn LOVED having her cousins here. They played from the time they woke up (which was usually WAY too early) until they went to bed. Jon and Chad went shooting a few times and Em and I hit the Black Friday sales. And of course we went to visit uncle Kay and his horses. The kids really love their Uncle Kay and who could blame them.

From the first time Uncle Kay but the packs on Bo he had this picture in mind =)

The girls rode Bo bareback and survived their first fall with out even crying =)

The boys got tired WAY before the girls so they hung out in the stroller for a little while.

We ventured into the barn to visit and give treats to baby Shadow, Fire and Mokee.

Brookie had to give Kody a hug goodbye.

Thanksgiving was filled with lots of good fun and time with family. We started the day at about noon with dinner at Grandma Denise's. Erik, Jon's brother, was in town too, so we had the whole family together except for Hunter, Erik's son, but he'll be here for Christmas. Brooklyn is still our little picky eater so she didn't eat much, but David enjoyed his first real mashed potatoes. After the boys took a little nap we headed to Gramps and Grandma's house to visit. We snacked a little on more wonderful food and of course yummy pies. Then we headed to my uncle Dave's for more visiting and more pie =) It was a great day.
Saturday was our ward Christmas party. We have such an amazing ward. I LOVE our ward. We had a yummy ham dinner and were entertained by they youth. The young men and women did a nativity skit and the primary kids sang songs. And of course there was visit from SANTA! Brooklyn was very excited to go see Santa until it was time to go sit on his lap. She wanted no part in that. She did have fun coloring pictures and playing with her friends though.

Brooklyn is a true two year old. It's a good thing she's so cute. She really drives me crazy sometimes, but I love her so much. She's had almost no asthma symptoms, hooray! She is very social and loves to play with other kids as long as mom or dad is with in her sight. Jon and I have been taking turns going with her to nursery. I'm hoping she'll warm up to the idea of going by herself soon, but it's not looking promising. Any ideas to help with this little problem would be greatly appreciated! She loves her little brother, sometimes a little too much, but is really a great big sister.
David is almost 10 months old?!?! I can't believe it. He's getting too big too fast =( but I really do love this age. He's just so cute. He's mastered crawling and moved on to cruising. He pulls himself up onto everything and can 'walk' all over the house holding on to furniture. I know it will only be a matter of time before he takes off and I'm chasing both of my mischief makers. He's also mastered the stairs.

He had a check up yesterday and is up to 25 lbs. and 30 in.! That's the 95% for both. He is a little anemic, but Dr. Steve said that is not uncommon for kids that grow as fast as he is. We have to give him some iron drops everyday for the next little while, hopefully he will get to be as good about taking them as Brookie is about taking her medicines.
Jon's work has finally started to slow down a little so he's been getting some of his other projects done. He's also been working on a little side business with Erik and he's studying so he can get the certifications he wants. Add that to his family and callings and he's definitely staying busy.
I'm working on becoming an expert coupon clipper. I ventured out on my first coupon/sale shopping trip and saved about $50! My goal is to cut our $400 monthly grocery bill to less than $200. I have high hope so wish me luck. If I have any fellow coupon clippers out there, I'd love to here your tricks & ideas and I'll share mine as I get the hang of this. Right now my biggest helpers are pinching your pennies and the grocery guru. I'm also staying busy by getting involved with my ward and neighborhood. I've made a fun little group of friends that do a book group once a month and last night we had a cookie exchange. It's fun to have some mommy friends and get out of the house without the kiddos every once in a while.
Well that's my update. I'm sure I missed somethings so if I think of anything I'll add it later. Hope everyone is doing well!
Love, US
