For those of you who don't know, we have a neighbor with a really cool job. Dave from across the street is a fire fighter. Last night at book group Katie (his wife) invited us to an open house at Dave's station. It was so cool and really fun.
Then we went inside where they had several booths set up to teach kids (and parents) about fire safety. Each booth gave out things like pencils, stickers and your very own fire hat. At one booth you could even try on the fire fighters gear.
If you've never been to a fire house open house you really should. The teach kids (and their parents) A LOT about fire safety in really fun ways the help them remember. They have a special trailer that you get to go in and they fill it will Halloween smoke to teach the kids how to crawl out safely. Brooklyn liked it so much we did it twice.
Next was another very cool part. They brought in a Life Flight helicopter that landed right in front of us. Then they let us go check it out.
It was a really fun and exciting morning that wore both kids out. So after posing for a picture on the fire truck.
We headed back into the station for treats and one last visit with Heidi the K-9, who Brooklyn loved, as long as she was a safe distance from her.
(Brooklyn posing for one last picture next to the ambulance, clutching her cotton candy and a picture of Heidi)
Thanks again Katie for inviting us. We had a lot of fun.
