We're home from California. It was such a fun trip. We drove down Wednesday afternoon with Chad's sister Joyce. The kids did really well during the drive. We got to Em's house about 2 AM and then went to bed. The kids slept in the car so they we're up bright and early, but I was so excited to be there that I didn't mind getting up early. Brooklyn played with Kaylee until it was time for her to got to preschool. While Kaylee was at school Em showed us around her neighborhood. Then we went and picked up Kaylee and took a tour of the base. That night we had dinner at a neighbors house and got to know some of Em's neighbors. Friday we drove to Tahoe and had lunch. Tahoe is beautiful. We we're going to spend a little more time there, but Chad got home from work early and wanted us to come home and play. Brookie helped Auntie Em make pizza for dinner and had a lot of fun. Brookie loves her Auntie Em and followed her around the whole time we were there. Saturday was Kaylee's birthday. Chad and I took the kids swimming while Em finished up a few last minute things for the party. We BBQed and it seemed like the whole street turned out. Kaylee has apparently made quite the impression on everyone out there. Sunday we went to church with Em and the kids. Em is lucky, there meeting house isn't very far from her house. Others from her branch drive an hour or more. I love her little branch. The people were awesome and there was such a strong spirit there. I'm so glad Em has that out there. Saturday night I could tell David wasn't feeling well and by Sunday I was pretty sure he and I were coming down with colds so we decided to come home. We drove all night and got home about 9AM. The kids slept most of the way home so it was nice. All three of us ended up getting colds, but we're on the mend. It was a great trip and I'm really glad we went. I'm planning on going back, but probably not till next spring.
